Faculty of Business and Economics

Prof. Dr. Michael Dornieden is Professor of Business Administration, Supply Chain and Production Management. He studied Business Administration at the University of Goettingen (Germany) and the University of Stirling (Scotland). He earned his PhD on small and medium-sized suppliers in caftsmanship sector from the University of Goettingen. He worked as a purchasing specialist for two leading German automobile manufacturers for many years. There he gained extensive supply chain management hands-on experience regarding supplier development, negotiation skills, strategic planning and execution. His current research interests include global supply chain strategies of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), automotive supply chains, purchasing benchmarking, supply chain modelling and their implementation. Moreover, he does research on digitalization of production management processes, further development of established lean production approaches and human-robot collaboration. In Schmalkalden he represents the faculty on the quality assurance committee.

Prof. Dr. Manfred Herbert is Professor of Business Law and Employment Law. He studied law at the University of Würzburg (Germany) and received his PhD in law at the University of Göttingen (Germany). He worked as a junior lawyer at the Higher Regional Court in Bamberg (Germany) and as a research associate at the Institute for Private Law at the University of Bamberg. His research interests include employment law, European Union law, legal methodology and different aspects of the relationship between law and language. His research has been published in academic journals and presented at several conferences.

Prof. Dr. Kai Hüschelrath is Professor of Economics with a particular interest in Industrial Organization and Law and Economics. He studied economics and management at the University of Würzburg and received his PhD in economics from WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar. Before joining the faculty in Schmalkalden, he worked as an economist in the London office of Frontier Economics and as a researcher (and later head of research group) at the ZEW Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim. His research mainly concentrates on the entire fields of industrial organization and law and economics with a particular focus on competitive strategy and competition policy. He has published in well-known general interest and field journals such as the Review of Economics and Statistics, the European Economic Review, the International Journal of Industrial Organization, Managerial and Decision Economics or the International Review of Law and Economics. He also has substantial experience in advising both private companies and public authorities in competitive strategy and competition policy matters.

Prof. Dr. Robert Richert is Professor of Economics with a particular interest in Philosophy of Economics

Prof. Dr. Peter Schuster is professor of Management Accounting & Management Control. He received his PhD from the University of Göttingen (Management Accounting & Management Control for Small- and Medium-sized Companies). He is member of the editorial boards of the following academic journals: "World Journal of Financial Management", "International Journal of Management Accounting Research" and "Financial Management and Accounting", editor of various book series and founding editor of "Springer Briefs in Accounting". He works as reviewer for further academic journals and acts as PhD Supervisor at different German and British Universities, and as external examiner at a university in Ireland.

Prof. Dr. Wiebke Störmann is Professor of Business and Economics. She studied economics at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn (Germany) and received her PhD in economics at the University of Cologne (Germany). She worked as a head of department in different lobbying organizations before she returned to a research job at The Institute of Economic and Social Research (WSI) in Düsseldorf (Germany). Her research interests include public finance, labour economics, regional economics, health economics and environmental economics. Her research has been published in academic journals and books and presented at several conferences.

Prof. Dr. Sebastian Ullrich is Professor of Business Administration and Marketing. He received his PhD on effects of personalized websites on brand attachment from the University of Giessen, Germany. He was a Lecturer in Marketing at the Academies of Business Administration and Public Management, Giessen. He worked at the Institute for Brand and Communication Research and founded his own company, a research-oriented brand and communication consultancy located in Germany. His research interests include online communication, word of mouth, trust and corporate social responsibility. His research has been published in academic journals and books and presented at several conferences. He is a reviewer for the European Marketing Academy, the European Advertising Academy and scientific journals. In Schmalkalden he represents the faculty on the research committee and in the senate.
